HIstory

Important Milestones for the Bridge Academy and Community Center

  • 2001- the founding directors of the Bridge Academy and Community Center, Steve and Stefanie Wilson, shared the vision with the church they then attended- Calvary Fellowship. Together they worked towards making this dream a reality.

  • 2002- the recruited Board of Directors worked to become a separate 501(c)(3) and searched for a location.  An anonymous owner secured the building at 570 Olive St. and allowed the BACC to take occupancy in December.

  • 2003- 570 Olive Street (an original church building) was re-imagined to become a community center, starting homework clubs and creative art programs with the neighborhood children.

  • 2008- Jordan Crans was hired as the next Executive Director.

  • 2016- The organization purchased 578 Olive Street and began to renovate the building to create office and learning spaces.

  • 2019- Grand opening of 578 Olive Street- “The Kenneth Allen Learning Center” – named in honor of the late Mr. Kenny Allen, who served the community in many ways and ran the tutoring program at the Bridge prior to his passing in 2018.

  • The Bridge currently runs after-school and evening programs for K-12th grade students during the school year. It runs day programs throughout the summer. There is also a Mom’s Club group that has faithfully met since 2008. Programs focus on education, creative arts, life skills, and spiritual development.

Leadership

The leadership of The Bridge Academy and Community Center focuses on our individual relationships with the Lord.  We strive to love God with all of our hearts, minds, and souls.  We pray our decisions, actions, and thoughts are in step with the will of God. Our lives are in response to the love we have for Jesus, our Lord and Savior.

Matthew 22:37 - Jesus replied: "'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind."

Core Values

Relationship

We desire to have strong, genuine relationships with those that come through our doors.  This includes getting to know everyone, caring for unmet needs, and helping people reach their highest potential. Plain and simple, we do life together!

Matthew 22:39 -And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.'

Programs

We diligently strive to provide excellent and engaging programs for our community. We desire to provide new opportunities, life changing teaching, and memorable experiences.

Ephesians 2:10 - For we are God's handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.
